Training
Potty
A potty training chair is a must have. It is a stand alone bowl
with a toddler seat on top. The contents are emptied into the
regular toilet. It is recommended that you begin with a stand
alone potty training chair before having your child use a potty
training seat because it will save you the frustration of putting
on the potty training seat for "false alarms" and it
is less intimidating and more supportive for the child to be able
to gradually transition from a potty training chair to a potty
training seat.
A potty training stool and a potty training seat for the toilet
seat is essential after the potty training chair phase. The potty
training stool provides a sturdy step that allows the child to
safely reach the top of the potty training seat. It is especially
helpful when potty training a boy because it helps him stand higher
for a better aim. The toddler sized potty training seat is to
be placed on top of the toilet seat because it provides a more
secure base for your child.
Proper potty training clothing should not be overlooked. Try
to have inexpensive, easily washable potty training pants for
your child that he/she can put on/take off themselves. Avoid pants
with a zipper, because things have been known to get caught by
impatient or hurried people.
Some potty training supplies you should get are potty training
pants or diapers. This will allow your child the practice of pulling
up and down themselves and it affords you convenience of cleaning
up when they don't make it to the potty in time.
